About us

The Collection is made up of Foxhills, one of the country’s leading resorts near Heathrow and Farleigh, a fun and fabulous golf club in the Surrey Downs. They exist to make people feel better when they leave than when they arrived. Making this possible is a talented team of 300 led by the Hayton family.

In 1983 Ian and Pam Hayton bought Foxhills from Aer Lingus. The airline had converted the private estate to a golf club in 1975. Previously the Haytons owned Pennyhill Park hotel and Burkes, a Mayfair dining club whose members in the 70’s included Princess Margaret and the pianist was Dudley Moore.

The vision for Foxhills was the US country clubs Ian visited when working as Ad Man in Manhattan in the 50’s.  Golf in the 80’s was the preserve of middle aged men, some would say it still is, however Ian believed the club’s future lie in welcoming all members of the family.

This atmosphere is at the heart of Farleigh, the club that Ian’s son Marc acquired in 2010. He joined his father in 1994, the two worked closely until Ian’s death in 2010; Marc is currently the Managing Director of the Collection. Pam and Ian’s younger son, James, is an international property developer.

Farleigh’s long term plans are to mirror the Foxhills facilities. In the meantime the club thrives as the best local venue for parties and promoting golf for all.

Foxhills continues to develop, both in scale and recognition. In 2015 alone the resort was one of 32 hotels to be awarded AA four silver stars; residential Gym of the Year, Top 100 Golf Courses in the country, residential Spa of the Year and two AA Rosettes for culinary excellence.

Being a good neighbour is central to the family’s ethos. Each month Foxhills and Farleigh support local causes with fundraising vouchers; both clubs operate an award winning scholarship programme providing membership and golf tuition for local children; tens of thousands are raised for charities in the clubs’ dining rooms and golf courses.
